Then, in 2012, I was certified in PILOXING in New York and brought the workout to Singapore. I was also featured in the major dailies. In 2014, I was invited by ActiveSG to assist their rebranding exercise through one of the launching pads, PILOXING. As the first and only PILOXING instructor in Singapore then, I married ActiveSG and PILOXING Academy (Los Angeles) in support of the event and helped popularized the programme in the community. After that, I took a greater interest in injury prevention and delved deeper into the study of mind, body and movement and obtained a second certification in mat Pilates. In 2016, I also completed my RYS200 training, studied Yin Yoga, Yoga Therapy, with an emphasis in Pranayama. By 2019, I graduated as a Polestar Pilates teacher and passed the PMA certification, obtaining the licence to teach Pilates worldwide. As a culmination of my knowledge and experience both as a mover and movement teacher, I created a class Release and Rejuvenate™ last year.
Certified Fitness Trainer
and Personal Coach
It was back in the ‘90s when I discovered my passion in fitness, in the midst of a stressful corporate work environment as a communication specialist. In 2007, I finally took the plunge and committed wholeheartedly in my pursuit as a full-time fitness professional. Besides getting certified as a Pilates mat instructor by Physical Mind Institute, I also got certified as a Personal and Group exercise instructor under FISAF. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Edith Cowan University two years later, and went on to set up Fitness Fun Group. My initial goal was to make fun fitness programmes easily available to busy working professionals and got onboard as a service provider for Health Promotion Board’s now defunct Workplace Health initiative. That same period of time, I was certified and taught a variety of cardio- and strength-based type of classes.
